THE JOHNSON ADMINISTRATION
The Johnson Administration is a creative collective, devoted to cultivating and producing compelling ideas and artistic expression that meet at the crossroads of innovative branding and inspirational storytelling.
ON CAMPUS WITH 2021
On Campus With… invites us to re-consider the Deering Estate as a campus, a multi-faced complex of buildings, resources, history and people. The brand needed to alter the existing perception of the property as a 2nd tier tourist destination and transform it into active thriving space for the arts.
THE RETROFIT 2022
The Retrofit is a natural extension of the On Campus With... brand. It’s where the screening of the docu-series premiers and allows the estate to be seen as a place where cool evening events happen.
RIVER CITY DRUMBEAT 2019
RIVER CITY DRUMBEAT is a powerful and uplifting story of music, love, and legacies set in the American South. Edward “Nardie” White devoted his life to leading the African-American drum corps he co-founded with Zambia Nkrumah in Louisville, Kentucky three decades ago.
The poster’s branding, layout & illustration needed to capture the heart felt emotion that ripples from the intimate story and deliver it in one image.
SWEET SOUL
Sweet Soul, the film, chronicles Helene Smith’s journey back to the recording studio and the creative process of recording the song “Let A New Day Begin.”
Although Sweet Soul was an extended vignette of Deep City I took a Sdifferent direction opting for nostalgia rather than visceral grit.
DEEP CITY 2014
Deep City is an inspirational story that explores the early days of soul music in South Florida, the pioneers of that era and their lasting contributions to the broader American musical landscape.
The approach for Deep
City was to develop
visuals that the viewers
could figuratively hear,
taste & smell.
SOUL MANUFACTURING
CORPORATION 2012
Soul Manufacturing Corporation is a multi-city initiative based in Chicago that works in tandem with the Rebuild Foundation, an urban redevelopment organization dedicated to the creative re-use of buildings and design education throughout communities of color.
With this project the aim was to push this fine art intiative’s visuals in the direction of retro cinema making the elevated concepts more accessible to a wider audience.
